Dear Readers,
welcome to a new year of Exploring Rurality. We hope you have had a happy holiday and a good start to the New Year. The editing team of this blog have had a few weeks off from blogging, but are now back.
Exploring Rurality in 2014
A new year is here and with it comes new rural developments to watch and learn from. Our plan for Exploring Rurality this year is to continue presenting you with interesting cases in rural development, sustainability, comparative studies and rural inspiration in general. We will present you with an overview of the ICRPS-history, including how it started and what we have achieved so far, and we will have Tom Johnson tell us about the future plans for the network.
The blog will of course also do its best to follow up on the “live blogging” from this year’s summer school as we also did from Canada 2012 and Italy last year.
This year we also hope to strengthen our aim of being a virtual meeting place for ICRPS alumni and faculty. We collect and publish stories/articles from ICRPS alumni and faculty as a way for us all to stay in touch and share our knowledge from the rural field. But we can’t do it on our own and we need your help in providing your contributions and participating to fill the blog with content. We would like to emphasis that this is a volunteer activity for us and we would love to see the blog benefit more from a collaborative work between faculty and ICRPS alumni. Your contribution, text, pictures, ideas or suggestions are all most welcome!

ICRPS Summer School 2014
After a very successful summer school in Italy last year, this year the summer school is due to be held in Mexico, for the first time in ICRPS history, at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Mexico. We will make sure to keep you posted about further details as soon as we hear from the organizers.

We will continue to bring you our regular Recently Read posts this year as well. Remember that we are always happy to receive your input on news and articles worth reading about ICRPS related topics for the weekly Recently Read newsletter.

Looking for a new editor
We are planning on bringing a new editor on board within the next couple of months and are looking for any volunteers. As part of the editing team you will have a great opportunity to develop the blog further and to keep a tight connection to the ICRPS network. The blog is run on a volunteer basis and you will be free to decide when and how much work you put into the blog.
If you are interested, let us know! We are looking forward to welcome a new editor to our team.
